Resources

Where available, groups will be allocated to a Computer Resource area containing a minimum of 15 stations.

Each CRA contains:

bulleta class set (15 min) of the 'New' CLAITstudent books,
bulletsets of Sample Assignments from the 'New' CLAITTeacher's Reference Manual.
bulleta Teacher's Reference Manual for 'New' CLAIT.
bulletthe 'In-House' help files are available through the Intranet,

Assessment

Pupils will be assessed using OCR set 'New' CLAIT- assignments. 

(Successful completion of any 5 modules (including the Compulsory) will earn a 'New' CLAIT- Pass.)

Assessments take place during the Lunch period on at least one day, each week, in each CRA, when the room is specifically reserved for this purpose.

Pupils must book for assessment of each module as and when their teacher declares that they have completed the necessary tasks for each module.

Suggested Approach

Administration:

Each group should have two "Banker's boxes" allocated to them containing:
bulleta folder for each pupil,
bulleta set of printed labels for the group,
bulletan attendance register for the group,

you also need access to:

bulletan on-line record sheet for the group,

Time-scale:

for first module:

Aim: to complete 2 modules,

Use:

bulletthe tasks in the student book for 'whole class' teaching,
bulletthe Practice Assignments for consolidation of skills.

Introduce DTP at the beginning of first term and aim to complete it by half-term.

Then introduce Electronic Communications and aim to complete it in weeks 5-8.


 

for second module:

Aim: to complete 2 modules,

Use:

bulletthe tasks in the student book for 'whole class' teaching,
bulletthe Practice Assignments for consolidation of skills.

Make sure that the Desk Top Publishing and Electronic Communications are complete.

 

Then introduce Use of a Computer -

Compulsory module and aim to complete it in  4 weeks. 

 

Then introduce Web Pages module and aim to complete it in  the remainder of the term.
