Autumn Term -
Assignment 4 - ICT in Mobile Communications Technology.

Aim: To appreciate, and demonstrate an
understanding of, the capabilities, impact and costs of Mobile
Communications Technology.
Your assignment is to present an
information bulletin for your new company
'Ere-ake
which provides Mobile Phones aimed at the
teenager market.
It should attract teenagers
BUT reassure parents.
This assignment consists of four targets.
 | The first target requires you to describe
the main facilities available on Mobile Phones, including Making
Calls, Storing Numbers, Text Messaging, Voice Mail, etc.;
|
 | The second target requires you to describe
the security functions (locking codes, etc.) available on Mobile
Phones;
|
 | The third target is for you to compare the
costs of purchasing and using a Mobile Phone;
|
 | Finally - Hand in annotated printouts of
your presentation AND e-mail your final presentation to your
teacher, |
All targets should be achieved using a
presentation medium of your choice!!
( you have previously used a
Wordprocessor(MSWord) to produce a leaflet, used a DTP (MSPublisher)
package to produce a leaflet, used a Presentation (MSPowerPoint)
package to produce a slide show, used a HTML editor to produce web
pages)
At the end of the assignment you will be expected
to:
 | Hand in annotated printouts of your
presentation,

 | e-mail your final presentation to your
teacher, (the e-mail address to send it to will be provided by
your teacher near the end of the time) |
For successful completion of this assignment you
must include the following :-
TARGETS
- The first target requires you to describe the

header including your name, tutor group, date and page numbering
(in the footer) if appropriate, etc.

Marking of the Assignments :-
It is intended that marking will be based on a
National Curriculum Levels rather than as a subjective mark out of
10 or a grade.
The assessment should be based entirely on the
final part of the assignment ie your presentation
The following levels will be awarded as appropriate :-
Level 4 if

student has: |
 | cut and pasted (or typed in directly)
textual information or images from
MORE THAN ONE source such as CD-ROM, Internet or
discussion with a relevant person

 | covered all aspects/targets of the
specified assignment

 | and added their own text
|
 | and added their own images
|
 | and clearly targeted it for a
specific audience and successfully achieved that goal.

Level 7 if
student has: |

Late submission
of assignments :-
 | assignments will be accepted up to 1
week after the stated deadline, however, the final mark
will be downgraded one level
|
 | assignments submitted after the 1
week "allowance" will not be graded and a 0 will be
entered on the students report
|
