Assignment 3 - ICT in Industry

Aim: To appreciate and demonstrate an
understanding of the application of ICT within a specific organisation.
The Manager of your
Company/Organisation has asked you to create:
an area on the Companies'/Organisation's
web site
to promote the Company/Organisation as an ICT user
This assignment consists of three targets.
 | The first target requires you to choose a
specific company/organisation you wish to research (perhaps one
a family member or friend works for).
|
 | The second target requires you to produce
three linked web pages relevant to that company/organisation.
|
 | The third target is for you to explain the
editing you have done on an annotated printout of your three web
pages. |
All targets should be achieved using any
software package which will allow you to create HTML documents. It
is strongly recommended that you view the HTML help file
found on the school Intranet (see your teacher for guidance on where
to look).
At the end of the assignment you will be expected
to:
 | Hand in annotated printouts of your web
pages.
|
 | e-mail your web pages and the images you
have used to your teacher (include your name!) |
For successful completion of this assignment you
must include the following :-
TARGETS
- Choose the company/organisation you
wish to study. You should include an explanation of how the
company/organisation uses ICT making sure you cover
at least two of the
following areas:-
salaries, stock control,
invoicing/billing,
advertising, customer contact,
complaints and staff
training.
- Create three linked web pages which
explain the application of ICT within your chosen
company/organisation .
- Hand in printouts of the three web pages
including annotations explaining the editing you have done, eg.
font size, font type, imported image properties, page numbering
if appropriate, etc.

Marking of the Assignments :-
It is intended that marking will be based on a
National Curriculum Levels rather than as a subjective mark out of
10 or a grade.
The assessment should be based entirely on the
final part of the assignment ie the linked web pages
The following levels will be awarded as appropriate :-
Level 4 if
student has: |
 | simply cut and pasted (or typed in
directly) textual information or images from
ONE source such as CD-ROM,
Internet or discussion with a relevant person
|
 | covered all aspects/targets of the
specified assignment
|
|
Level 5 if
student has: |
 | cut and pasted (or typed in directly)
textual information or images from
ONE source such as CD-ROM, Internet or discussion
with a relevant person
|
 | covered all aspects/targets of the
specified assignment
|
 | and added their own text and/or
images, etc.
|
|
Level 6 if
student has: |
 | cut and pasted (or typed in directly)
textual information or images from
MORE THAN ONE source such as CD-ROM, Internet or
discussion with a relevant person
|
 | covered all aspects/targets of the
specified assignment
|
 | and added their own text
|
 | and added their own images
|
 | and clearly targeted it for a
specific audience and successfully achieved that goal.
|
|
Level 7 if
student has: |

MORE THAN ONE source such as CD-ROM, Internet or
discussion with a relevant person

specified assignment
|
 | and added their own text
|

 | and has included an annotated copy of
the final document stating the formatting they have
carried out and acknowledging the origin of the

Late submission
of assignments :-
 | assignments will be accepted up to 1
week after the stated deadline, however, the final mark
will be downgraded one level
|
 | assignments submitted after the 1
week "allowance" will not be graded and a 0 will be
entered on the students report
|
