INFORMATION AND COMMUNICATION
TECHNOLOGY
AS PART OF THE KEY SKILLS
QUALIFICATION
Information Technology is one of the Key Skills.
You will be provided with opportunities to develop your existing ICT skills
during your time in the Sixth Form.
The precise nature of these opportunities will depend on:
i) your existing level of ICT competence,
ii) the main type of course you
choose for your other studies.
These opportunities will be centered on the OCR/RSA and ASDAN schemes:
Computer Literacy & Information Technology - Stage I, (CLAIT)
Integrated Business Technology - Stage II, (IBT)
Key Skills - ICT
Key Skills - ICT
Time allocation - 1 period per week
Pupils will be grouped according to their previous level of ICT achievement
Group Ones (4 of) |

If you did not achieve CLAIT Stage I
(including Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Graphical Representation of Data) at the end of Key Stage 4 |
If you achieved CLAIT Stage I (including Word Processing, Spreadsheets, Databases, Graphical Representation of Data) at the end of Key Stage 4
Or, when you have achieved this. |
If you achieved IBT Stage II at the end of Key Stage 4 |
You will be provided with opportunities to:
 | Achieve CLAIT Stage I by completing any additional modules necessary, |
 | Achieve Key Skills Level 2, by completing your portfolio as part of the Universities Award Programme and sitting the level 2 test

You will be provided with opportunities to:
 | Achieve IBT Stage II |
 | Achieve Key Skills Level 2 or 3, by completing your portfolio as part of the Universities Award Programme
and sitting the level 2 or3 test

You will be provided with opportunities to:
Achieve Key Skills Level 3, by completing your portfolio as part of the Universities Award Programme
and sitting the level 3 test |
Areas of study
All groups will:
- complete the Extended Sample Assignment
- use remaining time to complete University Awards Portfolio

- Word-processing,
- Databases,
- Spreadsheets,
- Graphical Representation of Data,
- Integration of files,
- E-mail,

Resources
Where available, groups will be allocated to a Computer Resource area containing a minimum of 15 stations
 | Sample Assignment and Data sheets are available on the Intranet in the ICT2 Topic |
 | the 'In-House' help files are available through the Intranet, |
Assessment
For IBT Stage II
Pupils will be assessed using RSA set IBT Stage II Assignments.
(Successful completion of all 5 modules will earn an IBT - Stage II Pass.)
For CLAIT Stage I
Pupils will be assessed using RSA set CLAIT - Stage I assignments.
(Successful completion of any 3 modules will earn a CLAIT Stage I - Pass.)
Assessments can take place during the time-tabled session period providing that the
appropriate conditions can be maintained.
(Alternatively Assessments take place during the Lunch period on at least one day,
each week, in each CRA, when the room is specifically reserved for this purpose.
Pupils must book for assessment of each module as and when their teacher
declares that they have completed the necessary tasks for each module).
